AMT Mechanical’s Design Department provides end-to-end HVAC building services design, supporting projects from early concept through to construction and final sign-off. We operate across Christchurch and the wider South Island, whilst also regularly delivering projects throughout the North Island too.

We work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to develop practical, buildable designs that balance performance, compliance, and cost. We work across a wide range of project types, including hotels, commercial offices, retail spaces, restaurants, food processing facilities, and industrial process ventilation for factories.

Design from Concept to Completion

Our design capability spans the full project lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction documentation, to on-site support during installation and final producer statements at handover.

3D Modelling

Our in-house design team uses 3D Revit modelling to clearly communicate design intent and identify clashes early. This enables effective coordination with other disciplines, early issue resolution, and the production of accurate, buildable documentation.

Engineering & Compliance

AMT Mechanical has an in-house Chartered HVAC Engineer, allowing us to maintain full control over design quality and compliance. We can provide and sign off PS1 (Design) and PS4 (Construction Review) producer statements, ensuring continuity of responsibility, clear accountability, and confidence for clients, councils, and building owners. Our team is well equipped to diagnose and resolve any issues that may arise with your HVAC system, performing repairs with precision and efficiency.

Contractor-Led Design

We specialise in design & build projects, delivering mechanical designs developed alongside our construction team to ensure efficiency, coordination, and buildability. Where required, we also provide design-for-tender services, producing clear, compliant documentation suitable for competitive pricing and independent procurement.

As a contractor-led business with strong on-site experience, our designs are grounded in real-world construction knowledge. Our in-house pricing and installation teams are closely involved in the design process, allowing us to design to budget and deliver solutions that are efficient, maintainable, and practical to install — not just good-looking on a screen.
